In recognition of Fourth of July tomorrow, we’ve gathered a few events and festivities around the Hudson Valley. From fireworks to festivals, many of our favorite towns in the area will be hosting fireworks or gatherings.
Fireworks
Kingston and Poughkeepsie will each be hosting their annual fireworks displays. In Kingston, the fireworks will be set off from a barge in the Rondout Creek the evening of July 4th. Pre-fireworks entertainment will begin around 6:30 and will include music by the Gottasee Band and performances by the Center for Creative Education’s Energy Dancers and Drummers.
In Poughkeepsie, the city will set off fireworks from the Hudson River. You can watch for free from Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie. If you’re looking for more of a spectacle, the Walkway Over the Hudson will be open to ticket holders for fireworks viewing. Tickets are still available here – sales help to support the park.

Drive-In Movies + Fireworks
If you’re looking for a more low-key event, the Four Brothers Drive-In Theater in Amenia is hosting its annual double-feature. This year, the show starts with Inside Out 2, followed by a fireworks show intermission. The evening ends with a screening of A Quiet Place: Day One.

Parade + Baseball + Fireworks
The annual Saugerties Fourth of July Parade will start at 11am on Washington Avenue. In the evening, Fourth of July fireworks will start at 10pm at Cantine Field. Prior to the fireworks, the Saugerties Stallions will play their annual baseball game!
Historic Reenactment
If you’re looking for a historical representation of life during the Revolutionary War, check out the Independence Day event at Clermont Mansion in Germantown. Reenactors will portray the daily life of colonists and the mansion will be open for tours. There will be readings of Fredrick Douglass’ speech “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July”, as well as discussions of both African American and European Colonial musical traditions. The event will conclude with a reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Enjoying the Great Outdoors
If a holiday hike is more your style, Minnewaska State Park Preserve will be hosting a guided hike at Minnewaska. The hike will be led by Nick Martin, Park Educator, and Josh Grosse, Student Conservation Association/AmeriCorps Environmental Educator and will include Beacon Hill and the Lake Minnewaska Loop.
