Courtyards in modern homes allow for a pause, privacy, and a connection to the nature around you. As we continue to make great progress on Fermata at Catskill Terraces, we want to share some inspiration behind modern courtyard home design. Courtyards come in many forms from internal, external, and central as well as having multiple courtyards throughout a home. For Fermata we have an internal courtyard and two small courtyards between the main living space and the guest bedrooms. In contrast, at Lantern Ridge House at Waterfalls Properties we designed the home in a U-shape surrounding a central courtyard.
When we design our homes we always gather reference images to both inspire us and give visual cues to our clients when describing designs. Let’s take a look at a diverse range of modern courtyard houses that all evoke elements of nature and serenity.
