In today’s post, we’re covering another segment of our Hudson Valley Craftspeople series. In case you haven’t been following along, check out our prior posts on fiber artists, clothing textile artists, ceramicists, soap and candle makers, florists, jewelry makers, and glass artists that we love.
Today, we’re sharing a few of the many local leatherworkers that call the Hudson Valley and surrounding area home. From wearable leather designs to home accents, each of these leather artists has their own approach to this age-old material. Check out some of their work below!
Jay Teske Leather Co.
Jay’s work is primarily focused on architectural elements that incorporate leather. Based out of Kingston, he works with local designers, architects and homeowners to design custom pieces. He also has a few standard offerings. We love his leather shelves for an elegant office space and his leather handrails for a softer finish on a stair handrail. Some of his custom pieces have included the leather towel rack pictured below.

Sord Studios
We love the original focus of this leather shop – making something simple, but making it well with high quality goods. The designs are elegant, well-crafted pieces, with a focus on tote bags and clutches. You can find these pieces in shops around the Hudson Valley or online!
