It was such a beautiful sunny day this past Saturday! I spent the day in New Paltz where I hopped in and out of shops and ate lunch outside. Walking through the town, live music flooded the streets along with happy locals in light jackets. In this post I’ll recap my day and recommend other spots I didn’t get to go to this time. We are excited to share other towns we love and our favorite spots to visit in upcoming blogs.
A Day in New Paltz
Food
Our first stop was at Huckleberry where I devoured some veggie chili. I started by snacking on some blistered shishito peppers, rosemary and parmesan cheese fries, and a winter salad. Although they had their spring salad on the menu, I couldn’t turn down the beets in the winter salad. We also got their cauliflower pancakes on our salad.
My favorite dishes were the shishito peppers and the fries. I love shishito peppers and always expect at least one to be super spicy but this whole batch was mild and delicious! The fries were so tasty and paired with the garlic aioli- I couldn’t stop eating them.
We were stuffed at the end of this meal but desperately wanted to try their homemade donuts so we got two to go- a strawberry basil glaze and a chocolate tahini donut. (They were both so tasty and unique!)
After we grabbed our donuts to-go, we hoped over to Frank’s Fresh where I grabbed a jar of pickled red onions. I’m excited to throw them in sandwiches, salads, burritos, and more!
Shopping
After grabbing my pickles, we were ready to walk off our Huckleberry meal. Drawn to the plant filled storefront, we stopped by Ritualist where you can get plants, candles, cards, and all things magical.
I then stopped by Isabella’s Treasures where different shop-owners inside the store sold their specialties. Here I bought some bars of body soap from downstairs for future presents. I was most surprised by the upstairs comic collection with a whole wall full of Lord of the Rings action figures and other collectables.
Overall it was a peaceful and refreshing day in New Paltz. I love the energy of the town and all of the fun colors and musical sounds that come with it. Here are some spots that are also on my list but that I didn’t get to go to this time:
