The Hudson Valley is known for being an agricultural hub – from fresh fruit and vegetables to pasture raised livestock, this area is filled with locally grown produce and protein. In the fall, many of these farms host special events or create fall attractions. In today’s post, we’re highlighting a few of our favorite local farms that offer an extra bit of fun during the fall season. We’ve also written posts specifically about apple picking so be sure to check those out for even more local options!
Kelder’s Farm
Kelder’s is our tried-and-true favorite when it comes to blueberries, but we also love how many different fall entertainment options they offer families. Their corn maze is always a favorite, but they also have a variety of giant board games (fun for kids and adults alike!), a few different playground structures for climbing and sliding, and three types of cannons – apple, candy and pumpkin! Be sure to stop by before October 31st to check out their fall harvest festival, which includes many of the activities listed above.

Wright’s Farm
For a more adult-focused activity, check out Wright’s Farm in Gardiner, NY. They offer the classic apple picking experience along with a roadside market and apple cider donuts. They also have their own farm brewery right onsite! They serve their own brewed beer and even mix specialty cocktails using syrups made from their farm grown produce and herbs. The brewery is featuring live music throughout October, so be sure to check out the schedule to catch some local tunes.

Seed Song Farm and Center
Further north in Saugerties is Seed Song Farm and Center, a farm focused not only on growing fantastic produce but on education and agriculture-focused youth summer camps. They’re open on weekends throughout October, offering pumpkin picking, live music, u-pick flowers, scavenger hunts and more. They also offer sliding scale admission for the wide range of families in our area.

Stone Ridge Orchard
Stone Ridge Orchard focuses on u-pick apples, but they also have a farm bar and tasting room. On the weekends, you’ll find wood fired pizza and a farmer’s market. They’re also hosting a number of fall events in October, including a meditation session in the orchard and an Apple Fest fundraiser event for the Vanaver Caravan Dance Institute’s scholarship fund. Be sure to check out their website for more info on all of their fall events!

Hurd’s Family Farm
If you’re looking for an option a bit further south, Hurd’s Family Farm has a wide variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy. A cow train, obstacle course, mini-zipline and pony rides are just some of the more intriguing options. They also offer nature walks through their pollinator meadows and libations from the farm bar.
