Now that Autumn has begun, it’s a great time to make a day trip to the Hudson Valley and Catskill Mountains. With it’s numerous attractions, quaint village and tons of options for local restaurants, Saugerties is the perfect place to start your adventures this fall! And if you need another reason to visit Saugerties – we’re having a special event and hope you can join us! (scroll down for details)….
Explore the Saugerties Lighthouse on foot and take in one of the most picturesque views in the Hudson Valley. Visit the climbable rock sculpture at Opus 40 for fun day outdoors or purchase fresh produce from local farms at the Saugerties Farmers Market. Learn about the rescued farm animals at the Catskill Animal Sanctuary or take a walk down Partition Street and visit local shops like the Hudson Trade Company and Bosco’s Mercantile.
There are many great restaurants in the area including one of our favorite regular spots, The Red Onion, a 19th-century farmhouse turned restaurant that features an elegantly eclectic menu. Check out the recently renovated Dutch Ale House or grab a slice of pizza at Mirabella’s or Slices.
The Tavern at Diamond Mills is a gorgeous spot for outdoor dining on a warm early fall evening with a view. Try the local favorite cornmeal crusted chicken at Black Eyed Suzie’s, grab some of the best ice cream in the Catskills at Alleyway Ice Cream, visit the quaint Love Bites Cafe for breakfast or brunch, or stop by the rustic farmhouse cafe Miss Lucy’s for local sourced American fare.
