While it may already feel like winter is here, it won’t be official until December 21st. There are so many things to do in the Hudson Valley in the fall outdoors. There’s leaf peeping, hiking, apple picking, pumpkin picking, and more! Since many of the leaves have fallen and the temperature has dropped, we understand that not everyone wants to be outside anymore. In this post we’ll share some activities with an indoor component in the Hudson Valley you can do this fall and winter!
A trip to a museum is always an easy way to stay warm and still get out of the house. We’ve written a blog post in the past recommending galleries and museums here. For fall and winter I love going somewhere I can still see the chilly outdoors, amplifying how cozy I feel inside. A couple of museums I’d specifically recommend for this weather are…
Dia: Beacon
Magazzino Italian Art Museum
In addition to museums and art centers, historical sites are also a great place to be. They showcase the rich history of the Hudson Valley and are often right on the water. Here are a few historical sites we love:
Staatsburgh State Historic Site
Olana State Historic Site
Wilderstein Historic Sites
If you’re less interested in the walking-around-a-building activity, there are always amazing local restaurants to dine in, towns to roam around in popping in and out of shops (check out our posts on New Paltz, Kingston, and Woodstock), and classes to take at different art studios. Some available classes include:
Candle Making at Hill Valley Candles
Glass Blow Your Own Ornaments at Hudson Beach Glass
Pottery Lessons at Hudson Valley Pottery
We hope you check one of these out this fall and winter and that you stay warm!
