Construction Update June: Catskill Terraces

Last time we gave an update on Catskill Terraces we were just beginning road construction. So much progress has taken place since then! If you’ve been keeping up with the Catskill Terraces Instagram, you may have seen more road construction progress. This weekend we took some more recent photos and wanted to share the most up-to-date progress. We’re also sharing an exciting loose sketch of IRIE House, one of our custom homes at Catskill Terraces!

Construction Update at Catskill Terraces

Our road construction is going smoothly. Grading has proceeded on Huckleberry Terrace and we are currently in the process of moving the extra rock material we dug up to create our roads to the top of the Terraces. We are looking forward to reusing all of the material onsite.

One challenge we had with road construction was working with the site. We worked closely with our civil engineer to create a stormwater drainage plan, which will ensure that runoff from roads and site work won’t impact the wetland ecosystems onsite. The stormwater drainage systems will also ensure that water doesn’t accumulate on the roadways or destroy the careful grading work needed in order to reach some of the homes. Our excavator has been doing a lot of heavy lifting to adjust the slopes of the roads and adjacent areas. Eventually, large green areas will fill these drainage areas and all of the adjusted slopes.

The first road at the Lower Terraces is named Mossy Trail Terrace, after a beautiful trail that runs parallel to one of the wetlands. It weaves through the woods and eventually reconnects with the road, providing daily opportunities to wander through the Terraces. It was a top priority for us to preserve this special trail, and we’re excited to say that the road construction has kept it in place.

IRIE House Update

We also have a fun update to share from from Studio MM, who are hard at work on one of the custom homes at Catskill Terraces. IRIE house will be located on one of our Upper Terraces and has moved through the Schematic Design Phase. Our design team is hard at work developing the exterior and are sketching through a few volumetric options. While still in the early stages of developing the design, you can begin to see how the different schemes morphed into this program. We are looking forward to more formally introducing this project soon!
