While we share many construction updates and always have a lot happening on our properties, we don’t always talk about who’s doing what in all of our blog posts. To make up for those times, we wanted to dedicate a blog posts to some of the contractors and subcontractors we work with.
One of the things we love about building and designing in the Hudson Valley is that we have great relationships with local contractors and craftspeople. We have a great deal of trust and mutual appreciation with our contractors, allowing us to push one another to make sure the homes we build are to and beyond our standards for our clients.
These relationships are built off of respect, passion, and learning throughout each of our home builds. Our contractors and the team over at Studio MM work with one another to define details and troubleshoot when necessary. We like to have many aspects of our homes to be a celebration of the Hudson Valley. From the site, framed window views, indoor and outdoor flow, to the hands that build the homes from the ground up, everything is for and from the beauty our area has to offer.
Meet the Team: Contractors & Subcontractors
Cherry Hill Construction
Maxx and his team over at Cherry Hill are masters at framing. They have an exceptional attention to detail to make sure everything lines up. With their keen eye they make sure to adjust anything on site to prevent any errors further along the road in construction. We are so grateful for their constant hard work and perfectionism and we love how proud and invested they are in the work that they do!
Larsen Builders
We’ve been working with Tim and Rich Larsen since 2012, when we first built Creek House. They’re both incredibly skilled carpenters who care about their craft and our clients’ happiness. Best said by our client for Cat Hill, “I did get lucky… I got lucky finding an architect that already had… relationships with the contractor – a contractor who was amazing and trustworthy, which is rare,” (hear more about our client’s experience in Studio MM’s recent video on Cat Hill).
Harbrook Windows + Doors
Tom Brooks and his team help design windows and doors for our homes. They go above and beyond a typical window and door supplier – they work exceptionally closely with our architecture and construction teams to make sure every detail is right – down to 1/16ths of an inch!
Cabinet Designers
We often work with Cabinet Designers on our homes for kitchen cabinets, built-ins, and more. Becki, Jesse and their team are true partners when it comes to cabinetry and countertops and help us make our interior spaces look as polished as the exteriors.
Murphys Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning
Murphy and his team keep our homes warm and plumbed up perfectly. Brian (or Murphy, as we often call him), is a true team player who helps us find our way through even the narrowest of HVAC clearances. We love to keep him on his toes, but we also love to learn from his expertise and truly appreciate all of the knowledge he has passed on to our team of architects.
Travis Granoto
Travis is our go-to house electrician. He makes sure all of the lighting and their wires are placed in the correct spots, while doing a fantastic job coordinating with Murphy, Kim and the rest of the team on any tricky spots where electrical conduit and plumbing need to share space.
Pete Lang
Pete and his team have been our longtime masons, pouring some of our earliest projects. He knows our work and does a great job executing it!
Kiniry Excavating
Kim and Kris Kiniry have been a huge part of each of our developments. From moving dirt (lots of it!), trenching for electrical, well and propane lines, to finish grading – Kiniry preps the land for our homes and is involved in their construction. Most recently, we visited construction at Fermata where they were installing perimeter drains at the foundation, which inevitably involves more (extremely strategic) dirt relocation.
Jason Francis
All of our concrete floors are polished by Jason! Jason works magic, polishing each of our floors to our clients’ specifications.
J&A Roofing
J&A are roofing experts that help us achieve our flat roofs. We’ve been working with them for a long time and know we can count on them to solve even the trickiest roof drainage!
Rowan Woodwork
More recently, we’ve been working with Rowan Woodwork, an amazing group of woodworkers based in Kingston. With a keen eye for detail, Rowan’s team always makes spectacular pieces and helps make our built-in designs a reality.
Our team is a flow of constant collaboration to make our clients’ dream homes. We love fostering relationships with our contractors and continuing to design and build better.
