Construction Update August: We’re moving along with construction on Chalet Perche as our contractors are nearing completion! You can see from the photos below that all of the windows and doors have been installed, the deck is completed, and the exterior wood siding is almost finished!
Construction Progress: Chalet Perche
There’s been progress inside too! Since our last update drywall has been installed throughout the home, you can see the built-in finished in the mezzanine, and our contractors are working on painting and installing the PEX tubing for the radiant heating system. Then they will begin installing the wood floor.
As you may remember from our previous construction updates, most of Chalet Perche will have finished wood flooring but the foyer will be polished concrete. We talked in a previous post about how the plastic tubing for the radiant heat in the foyer was laid down before the concrete was poured. For the areas of the home that have wood flooring, the radiant heating system was designed as a “dry installation”. This means that the tubing will be placed directly under the wood floor so it can provide immediate heat to the floor’s surface.
You can see in the photos below that our contractors have already laid out the PEX tubing, a non-toxic, flexible polyethylene tubing, throughout the areas of the home that will have wood flooring. Next, the wood flooring will be installed on top of the tubing. We use radiant heating in our homes because not only does it save energy and heating costs over time, but it makes a home feel warm and cozy from the first step inside.
