Spring is here! Even though we won’t start seeing everything turning green until early May, there’s still lots of fun to be had in the Hudson Valley this April. The weather is starting to warm up, spring festivals are on the horizon, and local businesses like farmers markets and orchards are opening up for the season. Here are some ideas to get you outdoors and keep you busy in the Hudson Valley this spring!
Hudson Valley Local Adventures: Spring 2019
Saunderskill Farms and Market
One of our favorite local farm stand is open for the season! A great place to grab lunch, fresh donuts and bakery items, flowers or herbs to grow in your garden, as well as an assortment seasonal local fruits and vegetables. Be sure to stop by and pick up some of their home grown asparagus this month. You can check out their website to see available produce and bakery items.
The Gray Barn at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary
Make a visit to the new inn at the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in High Falls for a perfect spring getaway! Enjoy vegan food, comfortable accommodations, and stunning views from the modern inn designed by an architect we know and love (Studio MM, who is also the architect of our HV Contemporary Homes)! Stay for a relaxing weekend, tour the farm, learn about WFS‘s mission, and meet the animals who call it home.
Spring Hikes
Here in the Hudson Valley we are surrounded by some of the best hiking trails in the country. We’re incredibly lucky to be this close to trails that feature streams, waterfalls, or spectacular mountain views. There are many beautiful locations to choose from – here’s a list of a few of our favorite local hiking paths with incredible sights to enjoy while your getting some exercise and fresh air!
Arrowood Farm Brewery
This is no ordinary farm – Arrowood is a a self-sustaining farm brewery where the farm animals contribute to the bio-dynamic environment and all play a role in the production of Arrowood’s beer. Visit the taproom for a tasting, sit out on the patio, and take a walk around the hop yard and beautiful grounds.
Stone Ridge Orchard
The farm stand at Stone Ridge Orchard is open on weekends. Stop by to pick up coffee, delicious baked goods, and soft and hard ciders from Hudson Valley Farmhouse Cider. You can spend the afternoon at their tasting room and sample both local ciders and beer.
Happy Spring!
