We are very excited to be moving into framing on Quattro! Construction began on this project back in July. In our most recent update, we shared all of the progress we had made “in the ground” – we had just finished sub-slab plumbing rough-in and had excavated for the deck and carport piers.
The next concrete pour was completed for the piers, after which our excavator came back onsite to complete backfill work. Our mason also had to finish installing insulation and a vapor barrier below the slab. He also placed the steel mesh that will help give the slab structural stability.

The first phase of pouring the slab included the areas in each bathroom with different slab heights. One of the bathrooms will have tile, while the other will have just a tiled shower.

The mason also poured the foundation for the storage space of the house. This is an important component of the design because it will hold up a portion of the carport roof!

Once the slab prep was complete and the first pour was done, we were finally able to pour the slab for the rest of the house! The art studio and entry will have a polished concrete floor, while the rest of the house will have wood floors.

While we were waiting on framing to start, we were able to drill the well. This is a great thing to do while there are not many other subcontractors onsite, as it is typically very long and takes a day (or two!) to do. In the end, it’s not much to look at, but it is a critical part of construction!

Most excitingly, we recently started framing! Sill plates were installed first, with the first round of wall framing starting soon after.
